We are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join our core stationary team. This person will be a key part of the buying team, supporting the Buying Manager to source and buy high-quality products, providing our customers with the best offer, range, and prices within stationary.

About the role

Supporting the Buying Manager in sourcing and purchasing quality stationary products, managing supplier relationships, analyzing market trends, and supporting promotional activities.

You will be responsible for

• Supporting supplier performance management and building long-term relationships.
• Contributing to customer-led category planning to drive loyalty.
• Conducting store/website visits and reviewing customer insights to inform product range decisions.
• Assisting in sourcing innovative products based on market insights.
• Negotiating with suppliers to improve trading terms sustainably.
• Supporting trade, promotions, marketing, and events to exceed KPIs and increase footfall.
• Coordinating with Tesco Business Services and Supply Chain to ensure timely product availability.
• Ensuring product quality with suppliers and quality teams.
• Managing commercial income, invoicing, and resolving billing issues.
• Developing artwork and POS materials.
• Adhering to Tesco policies and completing training programs.
• Managing GHS setup.

You will need

• Influencing and negotiation skills
• Stakeholder and supplier management
• Buying and range support experience
• Trade planning and data analysis skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong presentation skills
