This is a lead buying manager role within MFPE & Dairy which combines the Pork category with the sourcing of British Pork for the wider business.

In Pork you will work closely with our key partners to deliver our strategic objectives on quality, price, range, sustainability & welfare.

The area is seeing significant growth in Finest & a key area in delivering affordable protein through trade plan & APM.

You will also lead the strategy on our British sourcing by setting out how we deliver a resilient supply chain, delivering a fair return to producers as well as investing into new technologies.

Within this you will work closely with producers through our sustainable farming group & lead on the procurement for the wider models outside of MFPE.

  • Delivering our Sales, volume and market share ambitions.
  • Improving our sustainability & welfare ambitions in partnership with our agricultural team & partner suppliers.
  • Managing our profitability to be able to reinvest for customers through our producers, suppliers and products.
  • Maintaining the strength of our price, promotions & seasonal trade plans.
  • Supporting in delivery of continually improving quality.
  • Supporting in delivery of supply chain resilience.
  • Procurement of raw material for B2B suppliers into models within MFPE & broader.
  • Supporting in scaling Tesco Sustainable Pig Group.
  • Maintaining our TWA standards and continuing to improve welfare & sustainability across our supply base.
  • Supplier management, negotiation, and relationship management experience across Own Label (OL) and Own Brand (OB) products, including fresh suppliers, producers, and agricultural teams.
  • Strong understanding of product sourcing and costing, including raw material management, procurement, and cost model development.
  • Experience in commercial forecasting, reporting, analysis, and trade planning, including seasonal events and major promotional activities.
  • Proven experience managing the NPD (New Product Development) and EPD (Existing Product Development) process, with a track record of developing new ranges based on customer insight and market trends.
  • Confident in analysing customer insight and commercial data to support strategic decision-making and business performance.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal and external partners.
  • Experienced in managing complex, time-critical categories while balancing day-to-day delivery with long-term strategic objectives.
