We’re looking for a resourceful, imaginative and ambitious Midweight UX Designer to join our multidisciplinary team. As a Midweight UX Designer at the UK’s largest supermarket, you’ll be shaping experiences that help millions of people shop better. You’ll help discover new opportunities, contribute to intuitive and effortless solutions that improve every stage of a customer’s shopping journey. You’ll understand business goals and user expectations, creating design solutions that exceed both. You’ll become an expert in testing, iterating, and improving your work. Audiences are diverse, with 11 million active app users and over 1 million online grocery orders weekly. You’ll need a strong appetite for human-centred design, customer research, data, and analytics. Collaboration with UX/UI designers, researchers, writers, service designers, data experts, product managers, and developers is essential. Experience using a digital design system is required, whether to improve prototypes or shape entire user journeys.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Design projects from start to finish, simplifying complex experiences.
  • Participate in UX activities like discovery, sprints, sketching, wireframing, prototyping, and mapping.
  • Partner with product managers to define customer problems and hypotheses.
  • Advocate for human-centred design and inclusive principles, ensuring accessibility standards are met.
  • Collaborate across teams to improve digital products and facilitate workshops.
  • Use data and research to inform designs and validate solutions.
  • Contribute to evolving the Design System and share design value across disciplines.

Required skills and experience:

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating web, responsive, and native app design.
  • Experience in high-profile, customer-facing projects.
  • Passion for solving product problems with a comprehensive user experience approach.
  • Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Marvel, Miro, Axure, or similar tools.
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative insights for decision-making.
  • Experience with user research, journey mapping, wireframing, and testing.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 level AA accessibility standards.
  • Excellent communication and mentorship skills.
  • Experience in retail is advantageous.
