We are looking for an experienced Senior Privacy Lawyer to join Tesco\’s Data Privacy Team, which sits within the wider Group Legal & Compliance function. You will join a team of privacy experts (lawyers, risk & compliance managers, operational leads, and data managers) focused on supporting Tesco Stores while also overseeing privacy projects across the wider Tesco Group, both in the UK and internationally.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with various business units and be involved in a diverse, often high-profile, workload. You will be expected to provide practical, risk-based legal advice while building strong relationships with stakeholders across the Group.

You will be responsible for
- Delivering privacy advice to a range of stakeholders and business functions (including the people, technology, marketing, security, customer and operations teams)
- Providing subject matter expertise on PIAs, supporting on complex data requests, overseeing high risk personal data incidents, as well as leading on more challenging regulatory complaints and investigations
- Providing strategic direction and delivering on high profile data privacy projects, as we execute both our customer strategy and a range of colleague transformation programmes
- Developing the capabilities of less experienced members of the Privacy Team and providing direction and advice to them
- Supporting the Head of Privacy in a range of governance and reporting forums (including a range of risk, privacy and audit committees).
You will need
- A strong understanding and application of data privacy laws, with a track record of being able to convert this into practical risk-based advice in a commercial environment.
- 4+ years of privacy legal experience
- A passion for data privacy, interest in learning more and doing the right thing by our customers and colleagues.
- A track record of delivering at scale high impact privacy projects, as well as experience of presenting to and engaging with senior and executive leadership teams (including via governance boards and committees).
- An ability to engage with a range of stakeholders, to build key relationships and maintain the visibility of the Privacy Team across our businesses.
