Overview
We are delighted to share that a new opportunity has arisen for a People Business Partner covering our UK Head Office Technology Team.
The People Business Partner acts as the primary strategic people resource within the functional leadership team, often with a Group-wide remit. This role shapes, influences, and delivers the right people solutions to help Executives and Business Leaders achieve their objectives and vision, driving Tesco’s strategic priorities.
As a catalyst for change and performance improvement, the People Business Partner unlocks opportunities for colleagues by creating a diverse, highly skilled, resilient, and valued team. This is achieved through partnering on organisational effectiveness, strategic workforce planning, senior talent development, people change, capability, and talent initiatives.
The role also enables the leadership team to deliver the core people cycle through planning, engagement, collaboration, and innovation. With a deep commitment to colleague well-being and personal development, the People Business Partner helps create an environment where everyone can be themselves and thrive.
• Co-creating the functional people plan, bringing insight from the UK market, the Product Job Family and Supply Chain, Fulfilment and Product Leadership Team, to enhance colleague experience, drive a high-performance culture, and increase business output, then delivering against these plans through partnering and PoE teams.
• Acting as an advisor and agitator for UK People Priorities within the Technology People Leadership Team, and similarly for Global Technology People Priorities within the UK PoE’s and UK People Partnering Team.
• Provide strategic people thought leadership & Group alignment on all people matters at a business unit level including transformations, organisational effectiveness, performance & talent.
• Cultural, diversity, equality & inclusion ambassador, adopting best practice, exploring alternative solutions, role modelling & coaching leaders to bring this to life, positively delivering a diverse culture & workforce for the future. Being the cultural and operational flag bearer for the UK across the group and drive better global integration.
• Creating innovative & effective WL4+ talent pools with reliable-live succession plans for the business unit and Job family, working across the Group to unlock & provide interesting career paths for future leaders.
• Considering calculated risks & opportunities to develop talent, provide stretch & unlocking career progression for Directors.
• Understand the different levers to pull on to close critical capability gaps, grow skills & develop the skills/workforce plan required for the future within the function for Product Management.
• Foster a culture centred around our values & leadership behaviours, prioritising & coaching colleague engagement & performance metrics that resonate with functional & strategic objectives.
• Champion well-being, providing regular feedback to the leadership team and wider people team on its effectiveness & future opportunities.
• Understand functional DEI make-up & needs, ensuring bespoke solutions are implemented to promote DEI, with this ingrained into leadership thinking on all people matters.
• Leveraging people data analytics to inform strategic decision making & improve organisational performance, using data to provide data-based insight through story telling.
• Using your coaching skills to build the capability of Executives & Business Leaders to anticipate & pre-empt organisational opportunities & challenges through a market specific lens.
• Working with leadership teams to drive colleague engagement, retention & inclusion.
• Proactively collaborate with all Practices of Expertise (POE) to shape & align activity, sharing your knowledge of your functional strategy, priorities, needs & opportunities.
• Proactively collaborate with the Practices of Expertise (POE) in Organisation Design & Strategic Workforce Planning to shape functional strategy, priorities & opportunities.
• Collaborate Practices of Expertise to grow & challenge my own & functional leadership team thinking where required, collaborating with People Services to ensure we deliver a seamless people service experience within the function.
• Partner with the People Services team – UK/ India, and People Partners – CE to manage complex colleague relations cases, providing a point of escalation and guidance in UK for the global team as required.
• Collaborate and partner with People Data to develop action plans to address People issues/trends for functions, delivering insight to the Leadership team.
