We are on the lookout for a Food Technologist to join our team within our Quality function. You will support the delivery of our stringent quality & safety policies and standards, ensuring our products are safe, legal and responsibly sourced, through proactive management of suppliers and supporting the product development process.

Responsibilities:

  • Risk assessing products to be safe, legal, responsibly sourced and meet the Tesco rules & policies.
  • Supporting the product development process with NWT & suppliers, ensuring quality for customers and that our products are formulated in line with our product rules, corporate initiatives & brand guidelines.
  • Supporting the delivery of our health and responsible sourcing agenda across the supply base.
  • Managing products to always be great quality through ongoing monitoring and improvements.
  • Supporting the management of risk in our supply chains, from source, ingredients and raw materials, processing, manufacturing and Tesco routes to market (safety, business & reputational risks).
  • Supporting the supplier strategy for the area, ensuring the use of the best suppliers & sources.
  • Supporting the development of supplier capability through collaborative engagement, setting clear goals and measuring progress with Joint Quality Plans (JQPs) in place with all relevant suppliers.
  • Responding to complaints and incidents quickly and effectively, ensuring stakeholders are aware and relevant action is taken to protect customers and Tesco.
  • Challenging oneself to learn new skills and keep abreast of the latest thinking in the industry to help drive innovation.
  • Developing and coaching direct reports and supporting them to be their best.
  • Following the Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and due diligence.
  • Speaking up if something isn’t right.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree/qualifications in related area.
  • Clear communication and presentation skills.
  • Project and critical path management.
  • Data Analysis and decision making.
  • Good IT & Systems skills.

Beneficial:

  • Experience of working in the food/GNF industry.
  • Relevant product knowledge to deliver safe, legal, responsibly sourced products to the customer.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • End to end product and proposition development.
