An exciting new role within our Property Function! Tesco is recruiting for a new Fire Safety Engineer! You will ensure the ongoing improvement and management of fire safety across Tesco’s operations, this role is critical to enhancing our capability to manage fire safety risks, improve compliance, and provide expert support to various teams across Tesco.
The Hiring Manager for this role is Jelena Stepanovic.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed reviews of all fire risk assessments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Tesco’s fire safety standards.
- Provide technical support to design teams, including occupancy calculations, fire protection measures, and compliance with fire safety regulations.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate fire safety into new and existing projects.
- Conduct biweekly reviews to monitor progress on identified actions and ensure deadlines are met.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure accurate data reporting.
- Attend site visits with the fire brigade to ensure compliance with compartmentation, passive fire protection measures, and other critical fire safety requirements.
- Act as a point of contact for fire-related issues raised by authorities and ensure appropriate follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with internal functions with fire-related issues, providing expert advice and solutions.
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all fire safety requirements are met.
- Lead the creation of a comprehensive fire safety guide tailored to Tesco’s operations, outlining standards, processes, and best practices.
- Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to align the guide with Tesco’s fire safety goals.

- Degree or equivalent experience level qualification in Fire Engineering or related subject
