As a Finance Business Partner – Online, you will lead financial support for the Online Fulfilment Directors, acting as a trusted partner to drive operational performance and delivery. Your focus will be on making every £ count by ensuring Online operates within the optimum financial scope, improving profitability, and enhancing the accuracy of financial reporting. This role is pivotal in shaping strategic decisions and enabling sustainable growth in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Driving performance to deliver operational and financial targets: Lead and coach financial performance improvement and analysis across the Core GHS business. Build capability within operational teams to effectively manage financial challenges, KPIs, and cost drivers. Communicate strategic and operational plans clearly to ensure alignment and focus across teams. Understand localised complexities and cost impacts, providing strong commercial rationale to mitigate risks and deliver efficient outcomes.
- Co-pilot the Fulfilment Directors to ensure robust operational and financial planning: Partner closely with Fulfilment Directors on all aspects of financial and operational planning. Review change projects and strategic investments to ensure robust assumptions, commercial rigour, and financial sustainability. Act as a recognised business expert on budgeting, forecasting, and profitability management. Apply strong commercial acumen to analysis performed by FP&A teams to drive actionable insights and informed decision-making. Constructively challenge performance and recommend changes underpinned by sound financial expertise and business understanding.
- Future-proofing the business and looking forward: Facilitate knowledge sharing and promote best practices across both Finance and the wider business. Actively participate in the wider Finance Business Partnering community to enhance collaboration and consistency. Operate within internal control frameworks to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance. Champion a cost-conscious culture and promote continuous improvement across functions. Support organisational efficiency initiatives within the Tesco business. Maintain a strong understanding of store and fulfilment operations through regular engagement and visits to the large store estate.
Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent. Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends, interpret data, and provide actionable insights. Proven experience in driving strategic priorities within large, complex organisations. Demonstrated success in partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders, providing credible financial and commercial challenge. Skilled in root cause analysis and structured problem solving, using insight to drive performance improvements. Ability to coach and develop colleagues with varying levels of financial knowledge and capability. Strong communication and storytelling skills – able to clearly articulate both the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ behind performance and recommendations. Proven ability to prioritise, plan, and organise effectively in a fast-paced environment. Highly developed financial modelling, analysis, and interpretation skills, with strong attention to detail.
