A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work within the Hospitality Buying & Supply Chain team as a Buying & Supply Chain Assistant.

Reporting into the Buying & Supply Chain Manager, this head office role will encompass a wide range of buying and supply chain duties including supplier & stock management, new product sourcing, product costing and availability, data and report analysis and responsibility for Café stock availability.

The successful applicant should be organised and a great communicator, with experience in buying and/or supply chain. Experience using Excel is crucial as this role will include data analysis and reporting.

This is a full-time role, including 3 days a week at the Tesco Head Office in Welwyn Garden City.

  • Sourcing new products, ensuring the right product at the right price for our sites & customers.
  • Working alongside the Food Development team on new menu and product launches.
  • Maintaining and regularly updating our ingredient catalogue (pricing/ product changes).
  • Tracking stock levels with suppliers, ensuring product is always available in The Café and The Coffee Shops.
  • Running cost and availability checks for our growing Coffee Shop proposition and supporting with deliveries and requests for our site on campus.
  • Analysing and understanding performance issues, reviewing costs & availability.
  • Building allocations for new menus and ensuring products land into Cafés and Coffee Shops on time.
  • Supporting your manager to handle supplier performance and build long term supplier relationships.
  • Running the purchasing email inbox, being the first point of contact for Café & Coffee Shop supply issues/ ad hoc requests.
  • Being a bridge between suppliers and sites, communicating supply issues and helping to find resolutions.
  • Collaborating with the wider team and assisting with requests from other departments.
  • A passion for hospitality buying
  • Previous buying and/or supply chain experience
  • Strong supplier and partner management, with the ability to communicate & influence effectively
  • Adaptable & resilient, able to perform in a fast paced & constantly evolving environment

  • Report preparation and analysis (experience using the Fourth RME system preferred but not essential)
