Buying Manager - Prepared & Chilled Salads - 12 Months Maternity Cover

An exciting opportunity to join the Salad & Veg team as the Buying Manager for Prepared and Chilled Salad. This is a great role with exposure to the more traditional core produce buying models (chilled salad) right the way through to leading on our innovation pipeline as part of the health agenda (prepared salad). Both categories are high growth areas and we are looking for the right person to grow them ahead of the market whilst navigating the macro factors associated with sourcing produce.

We are looking for an experienced buyer to work cross functionally to accelerate our prepared proposition ensuring we evolve it to meet customers changing engagement with health as well as develop our supply base to be able to grow ahead of the market. This role also has line management responsibility for Mushrooms.

Please note: This is a 12 month Maternity cover position.

• Building a customer focused, long term category strategy that delivers sustainable growth for the business & drives market out-performance.
• Finding, developing and managing both branded & OB suppliers, to deliver our customer propositions and our joint business targets whilst ensuring that product quality is achieved & maintained.
• Working with suppliers to build a strong Buy/Move plan that ensures our products are manufactured, moved & sold in the most efficient way possible Effectively managing commodity and currency risk and negotiating a sustainable, market leading commercial position.
• Forecasting and managing budgets effectively.
• Delivering quantum profit targets.
• Always being cost conscious.
• Developing and working in a hard-working team, giving them the opportunities to be their best.
• Adhering to all Tesco policies, storage and hand-over protocols and successfully completing all the training so that you have zero GSCOP breaches.
• Ensuring all agreements are recorded in writing, reporting GSCOP complaints to Legal within 48 hours of receipt, and leading a culture of compliance within the team.
