Workplace Technology - Systems Engineer III – Collaboration Engineer

Overview

We require a senior systems engineer with extensive experience in similar roles within large-scale, complex, global organizations. Proficient in technology strategy and roadmap planning, technology engineering, technology lifecycle planning and delivery, product selection (including business case planning), and technical project delivery (from conception through to production). Broader skills such as commercial awareness, delivery focus, secure-by-design mindset, and strong operations and customer awareness complete the profile.

Specifically, the candidate will join the Workplace Technology Engineering team, with in-depth architectural/design level experience in Microsoft M365, Email/Exchange, Colleague Data, SharePoint, Custom Agents, Generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, Copilot agents, Power Platform, and related technologies.

Responsibilities

• Represent Infrastructure/Systems Engineering across Tesco Technology and with suppliers. Own and drive design and adoption of collaboration technologies across multiple infrastructure domains to accelerate capability and improve ease of use for Tesco colleagues.
• Own and shape the direction of significant areas of value within the technology portfolio. Drive end-to-end project delivery from conception through to production handover.
• Design and implement solutions that introduce new technologies in line with Tesco\’s technology strategy and standards. Influence product roadmaps and commercial arrangements with technology vendors. Ensure security enhancements in collaboration offerings.
• Work with Infrastructure Architects, Product Managers, and third-party consultants to align solution and product strategy. Manage full project lifecycle and drive solutions through to operational handover.

Prerequisites

Ideally 6 years in a mid-senior IT technical role, with real-world demonstrable experience delivering technology in the stated domains. In Tesco terms, 3–4 successful years in a Systems Engineer II role with demonstrated core capabilities of a Systems Engineer III.

Skills & Capabilities

• Own and drive architectural strategy and roadmap for generative AI, custom agents and Copilot.
• Drive implementation of solutions introducing new technologies in line with technology strategy and principles. Support standards and guidance for new technologies and influence product roadmaps.
• Contribute to commercial arrangements with technology vendors. Ensure solutions improve the security baseline of the collaboration offerings.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure Architects, Product Managers, and third-party consultants to align solution and product strategy. Full lifecycle delivery from conception to operation.
• Maintain up-to-date technical skills. Design with automation in mind to minimize manual effort. Define, analyze, plan, forecast, measure, maintain and improve service availability. Manage changes to services to mitigate unavailability. Identify opportunities for service improvement.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Coplilot, Copilot agents, Power Platform, M365, Windows security, scripting (PowerShell), and cloud/on-prem data technologies. Understanding of data security, archival, retention, compliance, and backup/restore. Exposure to VMware and Azure virtualization.
• Excellent communication in English; ability to present to leaders and engineers. Experience driving service improvement or large, complex projects.
