As a Lead Technical Programme Manager, you will deliver complex, cross‑functional technology programmes that support colleagues and help serve our customers better. You will work collaboratively, influence Product, Engineering and business colleagues and lead the programme to deliver value quickly and often. This role will deliver the new Store Hardware Strategy and will ensure the future of the technology landscape is mapped against Engineering and Product roadmaps.
Accountable for the continuous feedback from operational hardware in stores today to provide value in understanding the As‑Is and To‑Be operational models. You will be responsible for:
- Leading and delivering programmes with multiple business and technical risks that will impact the success of key Tesco business priorities.
- Defining and tracking performance against customer and business KPIs.
- Managing Risks and Issues and influencing multiple dependent teams.
- Establishing new or improving existing delivery methodology to deliver the programme goals.
- Creating and tracking a plan to deliver the programme goals, including the technical implementation plan.
- Owning the release plan and stakeholder communication and weekly Governance.
- Understanding trade‑offs in delivery, using experience and influencing skills to drive consensus with our Business, Technology and Engineering teams to obtain the best value and solution.
- Foreseeing potential risks and issues, establishing a process, facilitating discussion, and managing escalations.
- Acting on opportunities to adopt trends and new concepts in programme and product delivery.
- Understanding and driving a technical architecture to foresee the impact on dependencies, delivery timelines and implementation plans.
- Having good knowledge of System, Software and Data engineering and implementations best practices to appreciate delivery challenges.
- Understanding technology concepts, grasping new ones quickly and appreciating their implications on delivery.
- Effectively managing major incidents, ensuring stakeholders are updated with the right information to drive the correct decisions.
- Collaborating with the Product and Engineering teams to define annual budgetary requirements.
- Building positive relationships with suppliers & external stakeholders to deliver software or professional services.
- Coaching peers and other roles, teaching where required, on methodologies and programme management tools and coaching/mentoring on leadership.
- Leading other TPMs in the team and coordinating their plans into the wider programme plan.
- Playing an active leadership role in the TPM guild and community – proactively influencing capability and capacity planning for TPMs.

- Service Management looking at KPIs in technology performance across a wide estate.
