Pay and Hours:

Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but we also have opportunities for a minimum of 12 hours. Please let us know if you’d like to work fewer hours.

Role Overview:

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you deliver from Lands' End to John O'Groats. This role is about more than driving – it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the van and trays are clean and kept tidy/organised.
  • Leave the backyard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, and pick up litter as seen.
  • Ensure trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.
  • Load the van as required, checking the van for roadworthiness.
  • Talk to the customer about any changes to their order, including short code items and substitutions, offering a refund for anything they are unhappy with.
  • Take care of products/deliveries as if they were your own.
  • Explain to the customer that they will not be charged any more for their substitutions.
  • Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
  • Call the customer before arriving at their property if early.
  • Call the store/centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
  • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit, working together to make sure our store is the best it can be for customers.
  • Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand the customer and say 'Thank you.'
  • Act quickly to respond to the changing needs of our customers and embrace change within the store.
  • Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, integrating home and work to achieve a balance that is right.
  • Share ideas with the Manager and other colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.

Requirements:

A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
