Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. You can also work fewer hours, with a minimum of 12. Availability windows show the periods of time we need you to be available. We schedule your contracted hours within these times and give you 3 weeks' notice of your shifts. We support flexibility if your availability matches closely.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you deliver groceries and serve customers daily. This role is more than just driving – it’s about delivering great service with a smile.
Responsibilities
- I ensure the van and trays I use are clean and tidy.
- Leave the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, picking up litter where I see it.
- Ensure trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van as required, checking for roadworthiness.
- Communicate with customers about order changes, substitutions and refunds for unhappy items.
- Treat products and deliveries as if they were my own.
- Explain to the customer that substitutions cost nothing.
- Deliver during the customer's time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving if early.
- Call the store if running 30 or more minutes late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and excel in customer service.
- Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs and embrace change.
- Share ideas with the Manager and colleagues to improve service.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic only) for at least 12 months, no more than 3 penalty points.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and carry in a delivery van.
