Availability Window

  • Days: Sun 13:00 – 23:00, Tue 17:00 – 23:00, Sat 17:00 – 23:00

Pay & Hours

  • Rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25.
  • New colleagues are offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week but can work fewer hours down to a minimum of 12.
  • We schedule your contracted hours within these windows and provide three weeks’ notice of your shifts.
  • We support flexibility – if your availability aligns closely with the advertised times, we still want to hear from you.

About the Role

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you deliver from Lands’ End to John O’Groats, meeting and talking to customers in their homes daily. The role is more than driving – it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile. It’s hands-on, physical and varied. No two shifts are the same. You’ll feel like your own boss while supported by a team of managers and colleagues back at base.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the van and trays are clean and tidy.
  • Leave the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish, picking up litter as seen.
  • Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
  • Load the van as required, checking roadworthiness.
  • Communicate with customers about order changes, substitutions, and refunds for any dissatisfaction.
  • Handle products/deliveries as if they were your own.
  • Explain to customers that substitutions are free of charge.
  • Deliver during the customer’s time slot.
  • Call the customer before arriving if early.
  • Notify the store/centre if running 30+ minutes late.
  • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
  • Be warm and welcoming, taking time to understand customers and say Thank you.
  • Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
  • Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, balancing home and work.
  • Share ideas with your manager and colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.

Qualifications

  • A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
