Availability Window – Days from time to time: Wed 15:00:00–23:00:00, Fri 06:45:00–14:00:00, Sat 06:45:00–14:00:00.
Pay: Shift Leader rate starts at £14.76 an hour, increasing to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
Our policy is to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with flexibility to work as few as 12 hours a week.
The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work – the availability windows. We schedule your contracted hours within these times and provide 3 weeks’ notice of shifts.
This role leads from the front with your colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a fast paced fulfilment environment where no day is the same.
- Take ownership of Delivery activities by running the daily operation, co-ordinating the team to deliver a seamless home shopping delivery experience.
- Prioritise workload to ensure the equipment and the loading of the vans ensure a smooth doorstep service for customers.
- Constantly look for ways to improve service & safety in your centre through on the job coaching and feedback to others.
- Have a great understanding of how your centre is performing and support Managers to deliver practical actions for improvement by taking a hands on approach.
- Guide, coach and oversee colleagues to ensure colleagues are in the right place, at the right time and doing the right tasks
- Responsible for the day to day replenishment operation in the centre, ensuring deliveries are taken in, worked and the centre is clean and tidy.
- Able to build strong long lasting relationships with colleagues to create a team spirit, encouraging them to be at their best.
- A clear communicator and use a variety of methods to keep the team well informed.
- Confident in leading the team and communicating with visitors, contractors and security team.
- Flexible in the way you think, making decisions efficiently and handling change to ensure everything we do is right for the customers and colleagues.
- Energetic, driving and motivating others to deliver beyond expectations and effectively balance priorities.

Coordination and Operations
- Completing duty cover, making sure all decisions are right for customer, colleagues and everyone's safety.
- Being the go to person for colleagues in the absence of a Manager for their day to day operational queries.
- Supporting Managers to co-ordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere.
- Making sure the centre is always clean, tidy and well presented.
- Co-ordinating colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and have their breaks at the right time to fit around operational requirements.
- Being knowledgeable about my centre and our results, coordinating others to deliver the practical actions to make improvements.
- Following company health and safety routines and ensuring colleagues do the same.
- Delivering communication to the team when there are cascades from my manager.
- Looking at ways to simplify our operations and share these ideas with my Manager.
- Covering Team Manager absence/days off by coordinating activity across the trading areas.
- Always putting the customer first and consider them in everything I do.
- Recognising and celebrating colleagues achievements.
- Understanding what may be getting in the way of delivering a great service/availability and helping to remove these obstacles.
- Communicating with picking and delivery teams as required.
- Overseeing the day to day operation of the colleague shop

Eligibility & Requirements
Tesco will only recruit individuals who have passed the school leaver’s age. Candidates over 18 are eligible for roles that require working before 6:15 am or after 9:45 pm, or involve working in areas such as warehouse, beers, wines & spirits, counters, bakery and driving roles.
