We have an exciting opportunity for a Barista, who is enthusiastic about quality food and drink and great customer service to join one of our Tesco Cafè teams. Whether it’s a quick pit‑stop after the weekly shop or a long overdue catch‑up with a friend, you’ll ensure our customers enjoy delicious coffee, tea and seasonal drinks that make every day a little better.

You’ll bring your skill as a Barista (or as someone who’s worked in hospitality) to the team and share your knowledge and expertise with those around you. At Tesco, no one tries harder for customers than we do. So, you’ll ensure you’re familiar with all of our menu offerings and any new initiatives, regularly review stock levels, and serve our customers quickly and efficiently, taking into account any particular requirements.

At Tesco Cafè, we’re committed to providing opportunities for everyone to be at their best. With your experience, you’ll take ownership of team barista development and work closely with the Cafè Manager to support those looking to develop their skills. Plus, you’ll use our Click and Learn portal and other cafè resources to complete specific learning modules to enhance your own knowledge. It really is a place to get on.

Please note that you need to be 18 or over to apply for this role. Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of Tesco as a business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

  • Working at speed to serve a range of drinks to our customers quickly and efficiently.
  • Making sure you adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure we meet the required standards.
  • Regularly reviewing stock levels and being aware of (and following) all of our policies and procedures.
  • Working with the Cafè Manager to identify and support team members looking to develop as Baristas.
  • Keeping up to date with all communications from Tesco, as well as any new offers, initiatives and menu changes.
  • Resolving any customer complaints where possible.

Experience of working as a Barista, or in a hospitality environment. A commitment to excellent customer service. Confidence to coach and train others in an inclusive manner.

Personal:

  • Good planning and organisation skills.
  • Confidence using your initiative to identify opportunities to improve our ways of working or adapt to different situations.
  • Excellent communication skills to support colleagues and the Cafè Manager.
