Overview
As the face of Tesco on the road, Customer Delivery Drivers meet customers in their homes every day. This role goes beyond driving; it involves helping people and delivering great service with a smile. The job is hands‑on, physical, varied, with no two shifts the same. Drivers work independently for much of the day with supportive managers and colleagues back at base when needed.
Responsibilities
- Keep the van, trays, and work area clean, tidy, and organised so every customer receives their shopping in perfect condition.
- Load the van safely and complete all checks to ensure it is road‑worthy, reliable, and ready to deliver great service.
- Talk customers through any order changes, substitutions, or short‑dated items in a friendly, reassuring way, and offer refunds where needed to keep the experience smooth and positive.
- Handle products with care, treating every order as if it were your own to maintain quality and customer trust.
- Deliver within the customer’s time slot, providing warm, natural service at the doorstep and leaving customers feeling valued and well looked after.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues to create great team spirit and deliver the best service for customers.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change while out on the road and in the store.
Qualifications
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months, with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Physical ability to load/unload goods, lift up to a recommended weight, and stand for extended periods.
- Good communication and customer‑service skills.
Benefits and Compensation
Customer Delivery Driver pay starts at £14.18 per hour, rising to £15.45 in stores within the M25. Some locations may offer additional payments. A minimum of 16 hours per week is guaranteed; roles from 12 hours are also available.
