Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It’s our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you’d like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.
This role leads from the front with your colleagues. Work in a fast-paced fulfilment environment where no day is the same. Take ownership of Delivery activities by running the daily operation, co-ordinating the team to deliver a seamless home shopping delivery experience. Prioritise workload to ensure the equipment and the loading of the vans ensure a smooth doorstep service for customers. Constantly look for ways to improve service & safety in your centre through on-the-job coaching and feedback to others. Have a great understanding of how your centre is performing and support Managers to deliver practical actions for improvement by taking a hands-on approach.
Responsibilities include:
- Guide, coach and oversee colleagues to ensure they are in the right place, at the right time and doing the right tasks.
- Responsible for the day-to-day replenishment operation in the centre, ensuring deliveries are taken in, worked and the centre is clean and tidy.
- Build strong long-lasting relationships with colleagues to create a team spirit, encouraging them to be at their best.
- Communicate clearly and use a variety of methods to keep the team well informed.
- Lead the team and communicate with visitors, contractors and security team.
- Be flexible in decision-making and handling change to ensure everything we do is right for the customers and colleagues.
- Motivate others to deliver beyond expectations and effectively balance priorities.
- Look for ideas and opportunities to serve our customers, communities and planet a little better every day.
- Complete duty cover, making sure all decisions are right for customer, colleagues and everyone's safety.
- Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a Manager for their day-to-day operational queries.
- Support Managers to co-ordinate seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere.
- Ensure the centre is always clean, tidy and well presented.
- Coordinate colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and have their breaks at the right time to fit around operational requirements.
- Follow company health and safety routines and ensure colleagues do the same.
- Deliver communication to the team when there are cascades from my manager.
- Look at ways to simplify our operations and share these ideas with my Manager.
- Cover Team Manager absence/days off by coordinating activity across the trading areas.
- Always put the customer first and consider them in everything I do.
- Recognise and celebrate colleagues' achievements.
- Understand what may be getting in the way of delivering a great service/availability and help to remove these obstacles.
- Communicate with picking and delivery teams as required.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the colleague shop.
- Work together across my store and with other stores in my local area to achieve shared success.
- Be flexible in thinking, decision-making and handling change.
- Know your own source of energy and keep yourself fit for life.
