Job Overview

As a Customer Delivery Driver at Tesco you deliver groceries to customers, acting as the face of Tesco on the road. The role requires drivers to meet customers at their homes, manage deliveries, maintain a clean van, and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the van and trays are clean and kept tidy.
  • Leave the back yard clean, tidy and free of rubbish, picking up litter when required.
  • Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
  • Load the van as required and check the van for roadworthiness.
  • Communicate with customers regarding any changes to their order, including short code items or substitutions, and offer refunds for items they are unhappy with.
  • Take care of products and deliveries as if they were your own.
  • Explain to customers that they will not be charged for substitutions.
  • Deliver during the customer's time slot.
  • Call the customer before arriving at their property if early.
  • Call the store or centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
  • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and make the store the best it can be for customers.
  • Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand the customer and say 'Thank you.'
  • Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
  • Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, integrating home and work to achieve a right balance.
  • Share ideas with your manager and other colleagues on how to improve the store for customers.

Qualifications

  • A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Must have passed the school leaver’s age.

Benefits

The minimum guaranteed hours are 16 per week (or a minimum of 12 hours if preferred). Pay starts at £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.
