Role Overview
Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25.
Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with options for as few as 12 hours.
As the face of Tesco on the road, you deliver goods to customers' homes every day.
The role involves driving, maintaining the van and trays, interacting with customers, and ensuring timely delivery.
Availability
The ideal working periods are Sun, Sat, and Mon from 08:00 to 19:00. You must be available within these windows; we schedule your contracted hours accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the van and trays are clean and organised.
- Keep the back yard tidy and pick up litter.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van, checking roadworthiness.
- Communicate changes to customers, offer refunds for issues.
- Handle products and deliveries with care.
- Explain substitution policies to customers.
- Deliver within the customer's time slot.
- Call the customer before arrival if early.
- Call the store/centre if running 30 or more minutes late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit.
- Warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Share ideas with the Manager and colleagues on store improvement.
Qualifications
- UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
- Ability to adhere to the GB Domestic Driving Rules.
