Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £14.18 an hour; this increases to £15.45 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. You can also work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) if that suits you. The availability windows above are the periods during the week during which we would like you to be available to work. Your contracted hours will be scheduled within these times and you will receive three-week notice of your exact shifts. If your availability closely matches but does not exactly match the advertised times, we still welcome you to apply.
Customers are at the heart of everything we do. As the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver to customers’ homes throughout the country. This role is about more than driving – it involves helping customers and delivering great service with a smile. It is physically demanding and varied; no two shifts are the same. You will often work independently, but a team of managers and colleagues will support you from base. Responsibilities:- Ensure the van and trays are clean, tidy, and organized.
- Keep the back yard clean and clear of rubbish, picking up litter as seen.
- Wash trays as part of the tray wash process.
- Load the van as required and check it for roadworthiness.
- Communicate with customers regarding any changes to orders, including short-code items, substitutions, and refunds for dissatisfaction.
- Treat products and deliveries with care.
- Explain to customers that they will not be charged for substitutions.
- Deliver during the customer's time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving if early.
- Call the store/centre if running 30 minutes or more late.
- Build relationships with colleagues to foster team spirit and support the store’s service standards.
- Maintain a warm, welcoming interaction with customers and colleagues.
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
- Be energetic, driven, and integrate work and life for personal balance.
- Share ideas with managers and colleagues on improving the store for customers.
- Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
Please note: Tesco will only recruit individuals who have passed the school leaver’s age. Candidates over the age of 18 may only be considered if the role requires working before 6:15 am, after 9:45 pm, or involves working in warehouses, beer, wine, spirit, counter, bakery, or driving roles.
