We're looking for a Transport Clerk to join the team at Haydock RDC on a 12 month secondment to cover maternity leave. This is a key support role within the transport operation, helping keep things organised, compliant and running smoothly day to day. The shift pattern is Sunday – Thursday 14:00 – 22:00.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide day-to-day admin support to the transport team and help keep the operation running smoothly.
  • Support with driver dispatch and debrief, making sure paperwork and key information are issued and collected correctly.
  • Check daily route and delivery paperwork and flag any errors or missing information.
  • Record and report key transport information such as vehicle use, drivers' hours and other department KPIs.
  • Liaise with drivers, branches, customers, breakdown providers and VMU to help resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Support holiday cover across the wider transport admin team when needed.
  • Follow all legal, health and safety and colleague requirements linked to the role.

What we're looking for:

  • Good admin or clerical experience, ideally in a fast-paced operational setting.
  • A working knowledge of drivers' hours, tachographs and Working Time Regulations would be helpful.
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft 365 and Excel.
  • Strong organisation skills and the ability to keep accurate records.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to deal with a range of people.
  • A practical, positive approach and a good eye for detail.
