Tesco Online is the biggest Online grocer in the UK and one of the largest in the world. Our Fulfilment Operation is fundamental to supporting the success of Online, and the greatest lever in achieving our profitability objectives. This role is passionate about the overall development of our Grocery Home Shopping operation. As a Head of Fulfilment Development, you will translate strategy into action, performing plans brilliantly and working collaboratively and cross-functionally with multiple partners. You will typically lead multiple projects or be a subject matter authority.
The role has regular exposure to senior customers across Fulfilment, Online and Technology functions. Working within an agile set up, this role would suit someone who is comfortable working collaboratively and cross-functionally to lead Online Fulfilment Development. Whether that is identifying our Fulfilment strategy for the future or delivering groundbreaking operating model development in our Fulfilment operation, the role is varied and dynamic.
You will be responsible for
- Ensuring Tesco project management principles are followed including partner management, set up/organisation of the programme, budget set up/controlled with cost savings delivered and communicating with/motivating squad members.
- Ensuring clear definition of the programme and scope from the start, ensuring the programme always remains on track and in scope.
- Allocating resource and engaging with relevant subject matter experts, leading and motivating them to contribute to the delivery of the programme.
- Running risk and issues, setting up and leading a clear governance programme.
- Handling interdependencies and any potential conflicts, working with others to deliver the programme objectives/scope and for the good of customers, colleagues & planet.
- Designing a clear implementation programme, working with the people and communications teams as required.
- Monitoring progress of delivery and updating team members including business leaders on the deliverables.
- Achieving great results by inspiring, engaging and leading others; you make our customers and colleagues feel valued.
- Taking ownership of processes and systems, making sure they are effective and efficient; you spot issues and swiftly find the best solutions.
- Being flexible in your approach, you can handle various projects and programmes of work across different areas within Online.
- Closing programmes down once complete and completing a post implementation review, to understand the lessons learned, sharing these with partners and ensuring continuous improvements on ‘the what’ and ‘the how’ is in place.
You will need
Operational / technical skills relevant for this job:
- Experience of performing a full programme lifecycle
- Strong strategy and proposition development as well as analytical skills
- Ability to liaison critical thinking and pragmatic implementation
- Advanced project/programme leadership skills
- Strong communication and storytelling skills (written and verbal)
Experience relevant for this job:
- Retail operations
- E2E Project Management experience including management of a complex network of partners
- Experience working in or delivering projects in a Fulfilment environment.
- Budget management and commercial competence
- An inquisitive outlook and growth mindset
- Experience assessing business opportunities and crafting then monitoring reasons

- Annual bonus scheme of up to 45% of base salary
