We are delighted to share that we are recruiting for a Head of Merchandising to join our multifaceted Home & Clothing team (F&F) here at Tesco!

You’ll play a crucial role within our clothing team, crafting our global ranges – UK CE ROI ensuring the achievement of important metrics such as Sales, Margin, and Stock. Collaboration with Buying, design, sourcing and central Merchandising teams is essential in this position.

You’ll also be collaborating closely with senior partners within Home and Clothing and have strong supplier relationships. The position will be based at our Welwyn Garden City Pear office!

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting the category strategy review process whilst signing off budgets for sales, stock, margin and markdown.
  • Challenging the team to build a customer-focused range whilst achieving the commercial ranging process.
  • Supervising the ranging process (incl. range changes), safeguarding adherence to the critical path.
  • Crafting and delivering the category trade and events plan (and associated sales, markdown, stock and margin targets), adapting the plan in response to market changes.
  • Approving the final forecast and ordering decisions in line with stock and OTB targets.
  • Agreeing the pricing strategy for the Category in line with the Head of Buying.
  • Reviewing category availability & stock levels, collaborating with supply chain colleagues to champion improvements.
  • Reviewing the category Weekly Sales and Stock Intake (WSSI), coordinating action to improve profitability of the category and reduce risks.
  • Improving sales and margin densities across all store cascades and ensuring exit plans are in place and stock cleared in line with CAYG guidelines.
  • Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best.
  • Forecasting and leading my budgets efficiently, always being cost conscious.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.

You will need

  • Commercial merchandising experience within global and multichannel.
  • Category management (from strategy/planning, open to buy and exit management).
  • Experience within WSSI management – Range and trade planning – Leading and developing teams.
  • Influencing and stakeholder management experience.
  • Range and trade planning experience.
  • Proficiency within Data analysis and numeracy.
