About the role

We’re looking for a Supplier Manager to join our Insurance Money and Services team. We deliver services that support our colleagues and customers across Tesco Underwriting, Tesco Insurance and Money Services. Our suppliers play a critical role in that mission. As a Supplier Manager, you’ll help us get the best from our Professional & Shared Services partners — ensuring they deliver exceptional service, value, innovation, and risk‑managed outcomes.

You’ll oversee a portfolio of suppliers across Professional & Shared Services. These services may include:

  • Consulting, Analytics
  • Corporate & shared services (HR, Finance, Learning, etc.)
  • Technology-enabled professional services
  • Specialist skills or advisory services that support our Operations

What you’ll be doing

  • Performance, Service & Value Management
    • Develop a deep understanding of services provided, including SLAs, performance standards, commercial models, and risk exposure.
    • Lead structured performance reviews, ensuring suppliers deliver agreed outcomes and continuously improve.
    • Analyse operational and financial data, identify trends, provide insight, and influence improvements or commercial recalibration.
    • Drive value through collaboration, innovation, and cost‑effectiveness across the supplier portfolio.
  • Contract & Risk Governance
    • Manage suppliers in line with the Outsourcing & Supply Chain Management Framework and regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA/PRA).
    • Contribute to contract lifecycle activities including scoping, requirements gathering, negotiation support, and renewals.
    • Monitor regulatory, legal, operational and commercial risks and implement appropriate controls.
    • Ensure adherence to internal and external standards, including data protection, security, continuity, and operational resilience.
  • Supplier Relationship Management
    • Maintain strong, productive relationships with suppliers while ensuring alignment to TU objectives and business conduct standards.
    • Support senior stakeholders to navigate complex supplier relationships and challenge where performance, cost, or behaviour fall short.
    • Evaluate and onboard potential suppliers, assessing capability, quality, commercial viability, and risk posture.
    • Lead stakeholder engagement activities to ensure that business needs are understood, prioritised, and translated into supplier commitments.
  • Operational Support
    • Prepare reports, documentation and analysis for governance forums, audit activities and senior leadership engagement.
    • Balance competing priorities in a fast-moving, regulated environment, ensuring issues are escalated with clarity and urgency.

We need you to have

  • Supplier management experience within a regulated, corporate, or complex operational environment.
  • Understanding of professional services delivery models and performance drivers.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes, supplier frameworks and commercial contract principles.
  • Aware of FCA/PRA outsourcing rules and supplier risk management requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insight into action.
  • Confident communicator, able to challenge constructively and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Proven negotiation and conflict‑resolution capability.
  • Collaborative, empathetic, resilient and solutions‑focused.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commercially astute with a focus on value, quality, and continuous improvement.
