We’re looking for an Associate Systems Engineer to join our Smarter Decisioning Platform team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK. This role will be focused on joining a team of data engineers to ensure reliable systems operations and being involved in the building, maintenance, operation, and support of a range of cloud infrastructure within AWS and in our data centres. This includes working with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management to develop and manage our core services. As an Associate Systems Engineer, we will invest in training and ensuring you work closely with experienced engineers to help shape a rewarding career. What you’ll be doing:
- Ensuring reliable and high levels of system operations through monitoring and response to incidents.
- Leveraging automation including Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management to continually improve our processes and service operations targets.
- Sharing knowledge with other engineers within the team to ensure best practices are followed.
- Contribute to embedding an agile mindset and approach focused on improving outcomes.
We need you to have:

Understanding or experience in the following is preferential:
- Experience in Linux and Windows Operating Systems
- Experience in AWS (EC2, RDS, IAM, S3)
- Experience with Scripting (Python, Powershell, Groovy)
And if you have any of these, even better:
- Containerisation experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with Terraform and Ansible
- IBM MQ, IBM Connect Direct, IBM Sterling File Gateway, IBM Secure Proxy
- Knowledge of SAFe and/or Agile practices
