We’re looking for a Risk Oversight Manager to join our second line Risk team at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc. This role focuses on Collections and Recoveries within Retail Banking, using advanced analytics to shape and monitor credit risk strategies, ensuring they’re effective, compliant, and aligned with business goals. You’ll provide critical 2nd Line of Defence oversight, ensuring operational teams adhere to regulatory standards and internal policies. This is a high-impact role requiring autonomy, collaboration across functions, and a strong understanding of risk governance. This role will directly support Barclays Risk teams, working with a wide range of stakeholders across Tesco Bank and Barclays.
Location: Edinburgh. Working time: Full-Time. Hybrid arrangement with office attendance as required (travel to your contractual office location as needed).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support the implementation of a governance framework across Risk, Product, and Operations, ensuring effective second line oversight and escalation of emerging risks.
- Review and assess the completeness of first line operational controls, ensuring adherence to minimum risk requirements.
- Use MI to monitor portfolio performance, identify trends outside appetite, and escalate issues with clear feedback into strategy optimisation.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis into unexpected performance changes, disseminating insights and supporting operational capacity planning.
- Track and enhance end-to-end Collections & Recoveries strategies, including customer treatment frameworks and forbearance reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement through analytics, supporting segmentation and toolkit optimisation across all stages of collections.
What We Need You To Have
- SAS/SQL experience.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to articulate complex issues at an intuitive level to a non-risk audience.
- Ability to think creatively — challenge the norm and drive solutions in the face of challenge.
Nice to Have
- Good understanding and experience of working in a Retail Credit Risk environment.
- Awareness of Regulatory landscape and requirements governing Risk, specifically BFA.
