Role overview:
The Scrum Master is responsible for driving efficient Agile delivery, ensuring teams can build and release high-quality products that positively impact learners and educators. By fostering collaboration, removing blockers, and optimising workflows, they enable teams to deliver value consistently and predictably.

The Scrum Master plays a key role in aligning teams on priorities, driving continuous improvement, and delivering products that enhance education accessibility, engagement, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
This role is key to driving Agile excellence, enabling teams to work effectively, and ensuring impactful solutions are delivered efficiently.
- Ensure initiatives are well-defined, estimated, and planned before execution, meeting the definition of ready, with agreed sprint goals and aligned Scrum Masters.
- Oversee on-time and predictable delivery, ensuring initiatives align with launch timelines.
- Manage requirement changes through the approval process and address budget overruns as needed.
- Maintain accurate capacity plans and managing launch dates accordingly.
- Facilitate Scrum of Scrums to enhance cross-team collaboration and alignment.
- Support rollout activities, Stakeholder communication, Hypercare bug triages and conducting end-of-initiative retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain an executable backlog for the current sprint and upcoming sprints
- Ensuring sprint goals are clearly broken down into stories, tech tasks, and test cases.
- Support the team in delivering planned work while maintaining velocity, accounting for justifiable variations such as learning or leave.
- Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring alignment with approved initiatives.
- Escalate unavoidable slippage and ensure sprint work is realistic, achievable, and aligned with business priorities.
- Promote a focused approach, limiting teams to a single initiative per sprint unless circumstances require otherwise.
What will you need to succeed?
Experience
- 4+ years as a Scrum Master in Agile environment, preferably technology driven or EdTech organisation.
- Proven ability to lead multiple teams or complex initiatives, ensuring on-time and predictable delivery.
- Experience in guiding teams on Agile principles, improving Agile maturity and driving continuous improvement.
- Experienced in facilitating Agile ceremonies and fostering collaboration for improved efficiency.
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, SAFe and Lean, with the ability to adapt Agile practices based on team and business needs.
- Proficient in JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile project management tools for backlog management and reporting.
- Understanding of software development processes, DevOps, or cloud technologies is a plus.
Skills
- Skilled in tracking, managing and reporting on key delivery metrics such as velocity, predictability, WIP, lead and cycle time.
- Ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, ensuring alignment and clarity.
- Adept at stakeholder management skills, working closely with Product Owners, Engineering, and Leadership to align priorities and remove blockers.
- Capable of adapting Agile processes where necessary and promoting a culture of innovation.
- Comfortable in fast-paced environments, balancing short-term execution with long-term process improvements.
Qualifications
- Certified Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, SSM or equivalent).
- General leadership & Project Management certification (PMP, Green/ Black belt – Lean Six Sigma, LeSS Practitioner or equivalent) – ideally but not mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business or Project Management – ideally but not mandatory.
