Role overview

Reporting to the CTO, the VP of Engineering leads the engineering department, defining technical strategy, scaling teams, and ensuring high-quality product delivery. Successful candidates will have a pragmatic approach to delivering value at pace and be able to bring stakeholders along on the journey. Additionally, the VP of Engineering will need to be a self-starter and self-learner, able to keep abreast of technology developments and opportunities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Technical Strategy & Vision: Defining and communicating the long-term technical roadmap, selecting technology stacks, and ensuring scalable system architecture.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Management: Hiring, mentoring, and managing engineering managers and teams, fostering a high-performing culture.
  • Execution & Delivery: Overseeing product development and ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality, secure solutions. Ensuring teams assigned to technical support activities deliver outcomes on time.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with Product, Design, Sales, and Finance to align engineering efforts with business goals.
  • Process Improvement: Implementing Agile/Scrum methodologies and automating processes to improve productivity.

What will you need to succeed?

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience, typically with 5+ years in senior leadership or management roles.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage large, globally distributed teams, with strong mentorship skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Very strong background in software development and architectural design with a polyglot environment. Good knowledge of Cloud architectures and design patterns.
  • Communication: Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
