Role overview

The Marketing team plays a key role in bringing together multiple product areas and delivering value to schools through acquisition, engagement, and retention activity.

Working globally across Tes products, the SEO Manager will lead the development and execution of SEO strategies that drive organic growth, improve search visibility, and support business objectives across multiple markets. The role will be responsible for identifying opportunities across technical SEO, content, AI-powered search and organic user acquisition, ensuring best practice is embedded throughout the organisation.

The SEO Manager will work closely with Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Creative, Data, Product, Technology and wider Digital teams to ensure campaigns are strategically aligned, effectively delivered, and continuously optimised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the SEO strategy and roadmap for a number of Tes products.
  • Ensure implementation of SEO best practices across Marketing output.
  • Work closely with Web teams to ensure new web pages follow SEO best practices.
  • Evangelising SEO across the business to help secure stakeholder buy-in and drive the strategy forwards.
  • SEO consultation to Technology and Product teams to ensure SEO is incorporated at grass-roots level and technical SEO improvements are correctly implemented.
  • Deep dive technical SEO auditing and troubleshooting to improve visibility in search engines and AI chatbots.
  • Do monthly SEO reporting analysing and presenting outcomes and trends to relevant stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations to support improved SEO results in line with wider business objectives.
  • Work closely with PPC colleagues to maintain a joined-up traffic acquisition strategy.
  • Utilising an array of tools including Ahrefs, Conductor, Data Studio, Google Analytics, Search Console, and HubSpot to gain competitive insights, monitor trends and inform strategy.
  • Work closely with fellow SEO Manager to identify and implement opportunities that improve visibility across both traditional search engines and AI-powered discovery platforms, including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews.

What will you need to succeed?

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience developing and implementing successful SEO strategies for large-scale websites or complex digital ecosystems.
  • Strong technical SEO knowledge, including site architecture, crawling, indexing, Core Web Vitals, structured data and international SEO.
  • Experience conducting technical audits and translating findings into prioritised business recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of content strategy, keyword research, search intent and organic growth principles.
  • Experience using enterprise SEO and analytics platforms such as Conductor Website Monitoring, Conductor Intelligence, Ahrefs, Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
  • Knowledge of emerging AI-powered search experiences, including Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) best practices.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience influencing and collaborating across Product, Technology, Marketing and Leadership teams.
  • Strong project management and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Commercially minded with a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years SEO experience in a dedicated SEO Manager or Senior SEO Executive role.
  • Demonstrable track record of improving organic visibility, traffic and business performance through SEO initiatives.
  • Experience working closely with engineering and product teams to deliver technical SEO enhancements.
  • Experience of enterprise-level website management and optimisation.
  • Experience presenting SEO performance, strategy and recommendations to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Experience working within cross-functional marketing environments, collaborating with PPC, Content, Web, Product Marketing and Analytics teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Digital Media or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
