Job Overview

Ideally, the postholder will also have some experience in training girls\β choirs, as there could be opportunities in this area for the right candidate. In the first instance, the post will involve around two days of work per week.(10-12 hours) of teaching but with potential to expand.

In the first instance, the post will involve around two days of work per week.(10-12 hours) of teaching but with potential to expand.
Visiting Music teachers promote and deliver individual lessons and coach/direct ensembles as necessary as part of the Music Department. All VMTS are line managed by the Head of Instrumental Music, and staff work will be monitored by one of the two, on rotation, in any given academic year, to include lesson observation. Standards of teaching and learning are high, and staff are expected to have a growth mindset and be open to sharing and developing best practice as part of a team. The Music Department Co-ordinator works with the Head of Instrumental Music to ensure the smooth running of the VMTs work at City and is the first port of call.
The Successful Person Will Have
- A good honours degree in music
- An understanding of the expectations and ethos of an academically selective school
- Good organisational skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Competency in the use of ICT for administration and for teaching
- The ability to work with a range of staff at all levels A firm commitment to ongoing professional development
- A commitment to promoting the welfare and wellbeing of young people.
- A Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in secondary music is desirable.
Salary: Β£38.73 per hour plus holiday pay
