Job Overview

‘CAT employs rolling recruitment methodologies, with shortlisting and interviews for some roles taking place as and when applications are received. This may mean that some roles are recruited to before the closing date, we therefore advise that applications are made without undue delay’.

Carlton Bolling is a large secondary school of over 1600 students situated close to the centre of Bradford. It has been on a remarkable improvement journey over recent years, after going into Special Measures in 2014 under high-profile circumstances and being dubbed ‘The Most Broken School in the Country’. From this low point it underwent rapid improvement, attaining an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted less than two years after coming out of Special Measures. This success was followed up by accreditation as a World Class School in 2018, then being named ‘Secondary School of The Year’ in the 2019 Pearson/BBC National Teaching Awards. In 2024 we received the prestigious Careers Mark Award which celebrates the school\’s careers and guidance programmes. Despite this considerable success, the school still retains its innovative edge with several exciting initiatives being introduced over recent years, with many more to come.

In 2019 Carlton Academy Trust (CAT) was formed out of the success of Carlton Bolling. Since then, the Trust has experienced rapid growth, proudly oversees three secondary schools, three primary schools, and three special schools, collectively educating nearly 5,000 students and employing almost 1,000 members of staff. All CAT schools are rated either Outstanding or Good by Ofsted.

Like all schools in the Trust, Carlton Bolling is a great place to work with friendly, supportive, and helpful staff. Class sizes are small, averaging just 16 across all year groups in Maths and English, with slightly higher numbers in other subjects. Student behaviour and conduct is excellent, promoted and maintained by a large team of non-teaching Heads of Year. In line with Trust priorities, meetings, bureaucracy, and paperwork are kept to the absolute minimum, with staff regularly recognised and rewarded for their contribution to the school.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative, and committed Teacher of Girls PE with high expectations of students and themselves. Working alongside senior leaders, you will promote a culture of high expectations throughout the faculty in all areas of performance and conduct for staff and students, both in the core curriculum and through the development of wider curricular activities.

The successful applicant will be a motivated, creative educator who is keen to contribute to our dynamic PE department and to create an environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and excel.

Employee welfare is extremely important to us, and we are proud to offer a comprehensive employee benefits package through the ‘Carlton Cares’ programme, designed to support colleagues physical, mental and financial wellbeing. These benefits include a fully funded Health Plan and an Employee Assistance Programme, in addition to salary sacrifice and employee discount schemes.
