Contract Type: Fixed-term, 1 year
Reporting to: Director of Music/Director of Creative Arts
Salary: £15,200 per annum; plus accommodation and meals
Start date: September 2025

Sedbergh School seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and versatile Resident Graduate Musician to join our vibrant and ambitious Music Department from September 2025.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented graduate to immerse themselves in a dynamic and thriving department at the start of their career in music education. All musical specialisms will be considered, and an ability play the piano will be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will play a full and active role in the musical life of the school, helping with the administration and musical output of our extensive programme of individual lessons, choirs & instrumental ensembles. The successful candidate will also assist with the delivery of classroom teaching, with potential opportunities for teaching individual lessons too.
In addition to their musical responsibilities, the Graduate Musician will be a Resident Tutor in one of our boarding houses, providing valuable pastoral support and becoming fully immersed in the life of the school. The ability and willingness to contribute to the wider co-curricular programme—such as sport, drama, or outdoor education—would be most welcome.
Why Sedbergh?
Sedbergh School is a thriving co-educational full boarding school set in the stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with the Lake District just a short drive away. The School combines academic ambition with an outstanding commitment to the arts, sport, and character education. We are currently celebrating our 500th anniversary year, in which music has played a central role, with major events including a concert at the Bridgewater Hall. The school has an outstanding reputation for nurturing and developing colleagues at the beginning of their career, with past resident graduates going on to fill an array of senior positions – including Headteachers – in the sector. #J-18808-Ljbffr
