Your new role

As our new Head of History, you will lead a successful and welcoming department of 6 Teachers, achieving consistently good results in both GCSE and A Level. As the Academy has a sixth form, you’ll have the opportunity to teach KS3, GCSE level and A Level and ensure the continued success of the subject within Carlton le Willows Academy. You’ll be leading a department delivering the subject to a reasonably large cohort of engaged students. Currently, we have two A Level History classes and one A Level Politics class, and from September we will have six Year 11 GCSE classes within History.

We believe that students deserve a broad and ambitious History curriculum, rich in skills and knowledge, which immerses students in a range of cultures and engenders an enquiring and critical outlook on the world. Having previously run Battlefield trips within our department, as well as running a KS3 History club and additional enrichment sessions for Year 11 and Year 13, we’re hoping to welcome a Head of Department with the enthusiasm and ambition to further enhance our students learning and engagement in the subject by bringing new ideas to trips and activities within our History department!
