At Terumo Cardiovascular (TCV), we develop, manufacture and distribute medical devices for cardiac and vascular surgery with an emphasis on cardiopulmonary bypass, intra-operative monitoring and vascular grafting. This includes a full-line of perfusion products, electromechanical products, endoscopic vessel harvesting products and surgical stabilization products.
Job Summary
The Surgical Support Specialist is part of the Terumo Cardiovascular EMEA team and reports into the Clinical Support Manager CV EMEA, Tilo Barth. The main responsibility of the Surgical Support Specialist is to lead the provision of clinical, technical and educational support to HCP's throughout EMEA territory and to support sales of, and customer support for the Terumo CV surgical products portfolio. For this position we are looking to hire a candidate with hands-on Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH) procedure experience (+300 cases in the last 3 years), able to travel throughout the EMEA territory in offering support to other group entities. We are flexible and open to offering the role as a part-time position (min. 50% tenure) for the right candidate.
Job Responsibilities
- Sales Support
- Supports TE Sales Branches and Business Units in Sales and Marketing of Cardiovascular products, especially products used by Cardiac surgeons.
- Controls and manages the inventory of demonstration equipment.
- Completes necessary documentation and client administration, notifies Terumo representatives on issues or problems requiring immediate follow-up.
- Acts as a Terumo Europe representative to HCP's and support staff related to Terumo CV products, procedures and services.
- Maintains knowledge regarding products, procedures and services up to date - this also expands to competitive products and services.
- Clinical and Technical Support
- Represent Terumo during surgeries to provide clinical support, troubleshooting and other technical assistance.
- Provide follow-ups in hospital and clinics, execute field clinical investigation in assigned institutions, receive and respond to technical inquiries, research solutions to questions and problems.
- Educational Support
- Organise and conduct technical trainings and training programs for clinicians, hospital personnel and office staff.
- Coordinate and conduct training of Sales Representatives (internal and external) and hospital staff (train the trainer) if required.
- Follow trends in the Cardiovascular field on new products / procedures and inform Marketing and Sales function on potential opportunities or threats for the Terumo CV business.
- Seminar / Trade Show / Symposiums
- Participate in technical seminars, Trade Shows and Symposia.
- Act as a Terumo Europe representative and offer clinical and technical information to customers during these events.
- Product Development
- Assist Terumo CV Marketing in providing product development requirements to Manufacturing.
- Coordinate Clinical Evaluations of updated or new products together with the designated Product Manager and/or responsible Sales Branch.
- Participate in planning and execution of clinical studies involving CV products together with the Terumo Medical and Clinical Department.
- Provide technical assistance to Terumo Europe Quality Affairs on Post-Market Product Performance Reviews.
Profile Description
Minimally requires technical or science university degree with additional training/certification in cardiovascular surgery, nursing or other relevant technical discipline. Having performed a minimum of 300 EVH cases over the last 3 years and a total of 5 years working experience in a clinical setting. A valid SCP or PA license is required. Affinity with sales and tailored customer approach. Excellent presentation and training skills. Fluency in English (written and spoken). Other languages are considered a plus. Willingness to travel throughout the EMEA territory.
