We are looking for a Textiles Development Engineer to join our innovative and highly skilled Textiles team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of Class III medical devices, working closely with R&D and contributing directly to product innovation, quality, and patient outcomes. In this role, you will form a key part of a cross‑functional Product Development team, translating design inputs into product solutions that meet performance, manufacturability, quality, and regulatory requirements. You will bring expertise in textiles manufacturing, materials, and emerging technologies, helping shape the future of our next‑generation medical products.
Key Responsibilities
- Product & Technology Development
- Support development of Class III medical devices through close collaboration with R&D.
- Translate design inputs into robust, compliant product designs.
- Contribute to the innovation process, including idea generation and concept evaluation.
- Provide technical support for component and device design with a strong focus on textiles manufacturing technologies and materials.
- Analyse industry trends in textiles, materials science, sustainability and manufacturing to support innovation.
- Design Control & Quality Systems
- Contribute to design‑related risk analysis (Design FMEA).
- Support creation of Design Verification protocols, data analysis, and reporting.
- Ensure all textile design activities are fully documented in accordance with Design Control and QMS requirements.
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation, processes, and facilities.
- Project & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Plan and coordinate textile manufacturing activities to deliver against project timelines.
- Support discussions and present updates at design reviews, including project timescales and cost considerations.
- Act as deputy for the Engineering Lead – Textiles when required.
- Liaise with R&D, Quality Control, Clinical Services, and Marketing to ensure seamless knowledge transfer.
- Work with vendors, academics, and healthcare professionals to gather and validate product requirements.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings both technical capability and strong collaboration skills. The ideal candidate will have:
- Degree (BSc or equivalent) in Engineering, Materials Science, Textiles, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience within textiles manufacturing.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective decision‑making capability.
- Clear, confident, and professional communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills (MS PowerPoint).
- Ability to document work to Design Control and Quality System standards, including experience with FMEA.
