Technical Delivery Manager (Hardware & Software)

Location: On-site / Office-based (100% office-based, full-time) Nottingham

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Delivery Manager to bridge the gap between physical hardware design, embedded firmware development, and connected software platforms. In this high-impact, office-based role, you will be responsible for leading complex product developments from early design concepts through to mass production and release.

You will own the end-to-end NPI (New Product Introduction) lifecycle, working directly with UK-based and India software teams, internal cross-functional leads, and Far East/China contract manufacturers (ODMs/OEMs) to ensure high-quality physical products and seamless software integrations are delivered on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Product NPI: Drive hardware and software delivery schedules through all build stages—from prototyping and design verification (EVT/DVT/PVT) to mass production and post-launch updates.
  • Overseas Supplier & CM Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for overseas contract manufacturers, ODMs, and component suppliers (specifically across China/Far East). Manage factory schedules, tooling sign-offs, component lead times, and offshore build quality.
  • Hardware & Software Alignment: Coordinate cross-functional work streams across mechanical/electrical engineering, embedded firmware, mobile apps, and cloud infrastructure to eliminate bottlenecks and manage technical dependencies.
  • Risk & Critical Path Oversight: Proactively identify technical risks, lead time delays, and quality bottlenecks; establish contingency plans to maintain critical path delivery timelines.
  • Quality & Technical Governance: Define and track delivery metrics, manage product change requests (ECOs), and oversee factory acceptance testing, firmware release validation, and compliance sign-offs.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Dual Hardware & Software Track Record: 5+ years of experience leading technical delivery or project management for connected physical products, IoT, consumer electronics, or automotive hardware integrated with software platforms.
  • China / Far East Manufacturing Experience: Direct, hands-on experience managing China or Asian supply chains, offshore ODMs/OEMs, and contract manufacturers through formal NPI processes.
  • Firmware & Embedded Systems Literacy: Solid understanding of embedded C/C++, microcontrollers, board bring-up, and how firmware interacts with mobile apps and cloud platforms.
  • Full NPI Lifecycle Management: Demonstrated experience taking multiple physical products through tooling, EVT/DVT/PVT cycles, factory ramp-up, and mass production.
  • 100% On-Site Presence: Ability to work full-time out of our office HQ to collaborate closely with technical leadership and physical product samples.
  • Experience in consumer electronics, dash cameras, automotive aftermarket devices, or connected telematics.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain logistics, customs/import factors, and factory audit processes in East Asia.
  • Hands-on technical background in engineering, software development, or firmware architecture.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • On-time execution of hardware build gates (EVT/DVT/PVT) and mass production milestones.
  • Synchronized release of hardware, firmware, and supporting software applications.
  • Strict vendor adherence to quality standards, tooling schedules, and unit cost targets.
