The Senior Buyer will manage supplier performance, oversee purchasing activity, and maintain accurate material planning to support production. This role suits someone experienced in SAP purchasing who can negotiate effectively, assess supply risks, and maintain strong supplier relationships. The Senior Buyer will work closely with the Supply Chain Manager and provide departmental support when required.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day purchasing activity and maintain accurate supply schedules.
- Analyse supplier performance, costs, and risks.
- Oversee MRP outputs and ensure timely material availability.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and long-term supply agreements.
- Support departmental planning and purchasing projects.
- Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
- Provide guidance to junior purchasing team members.
Skills & Experience
- Senior Buyer or Buyer background in manufacturing.
- SAP purchasing experience (mandatory).
- Strong negotiation and supplier management capability.
- Understanding of MRP, planning cycles, and cost drivers.
- Effective communication and organisational skills.
- Confident managing multiple priorities within a fast-moving environment.
Working Pattern
- 35-hour week.
- Flexible start/finish (can start at 07:00).
- Preferably no hybrid working.
