TPA Recruit is supporting a specialist engineering and manufacturing business in the search for a Section Manager based in Sunbury-on-Thames. This Section Manager role is a senior hands-on production leadership position, working closely with the Production Manager and Planner to schedule work through the area, lead the team and improve day-to-day manufacturing performance.
The successful Section Manager will take ownership of production targets, SQCDP metrics, training, skills development, 5S, continuous improvement and section problem solving. This would suit an experienced Production Supervisor, Cell Manager, Manufacturing Team Leader or Section Manager from a structured manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach and guide section employees on a day-to-day basis.
- Own, manage and execute the production plan for the area of responsibility.
- Monitor manufacturing performance against SQCDP metrics and support daily stand-up meetings.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and support a clean, safe working environment.
- Identify training needs, maintain the skills matrix and support personnel development reviews.
- Act as 5S Champion and continuous improvement lead for the cell.
- Champion in-process waste reduction, scrap analysis and section problem-solving activity.
- Liaise with Operations management and support the wider planning process.
- Deputise for the Production Manager when required.
- Experience leading teams in manufacturing, production, assembly or electromechanical environments.
- Strong understanding of production planning, output, quality, cost, delivery and people-focused performance measures.
- Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement and daily management routines.
- Confident coaching operators, line leaders or team leaders and managing performance expectations.
- Comfortable working with production plans, overtime control, training requirements and attendance systems.
- Able to communicate clearly with operators, planners, managers and senior stakeholders.
- £48,000 - £56,000 salary range, depending on experience.
