We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established product design and manufacturing business based in Crawley.
This role will suit someone with strong SolidWorks experience, good drawing office practice, and a proven background taking products from concept through to manufacture.
The work will involve 3D modelling, 2D production drawings, BOMs, tolerance reviews, tooling feedback, rapid prototypes, ECNs and design-for-manufacture.
The successful candidate will work across mechanical product design, plastics, injection moulding, vacuum forming, sheet metal and fabricated parts. You will also work closely with electronics, NPI, production, suppliers and overseas manufacturing teams.
Key duties include:
- Designing products from concept through to manufacture
- Producing SolidWorks 3D assemblies and 2D production drawings
- Designing plastic, sheet metal and fabricated components
- Reviewing tooling DFM reports and supplier feedback
- Creating BOMs, tolerance reviews and ECN updates
- Supporting jigs, fixtures, packaging and production improvements
- Managing workload against project timelines and milestones
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will need:
- Strong SolidWorks experience
- Proven mechanical product design background
- Good understanding of drawing office standards
- Product lifecycle experience
- Plastics, injection moulding or vacuum forming experience
- Good communication across engineering, production and suppliers
