We are seeking a skilled PLC Programmer to support the design, development, and commissioning of control systems for low-volume, high-value capital equipment. This role involves close collaboration with engineering and production teams, as well as hands-on work at customer sites worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and test PLC control systems for bespoke capital equipment
- Design and implement HMI/SCADA interfaces where required
- Support electrical and controls design, including I/O mapping and documentation
- Commission systems in-house and at customer sites, including overseas installations
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during build, test, and field operation
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to deliver integrated solutions
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (functional specifications, test procedures, user manuals)
- Provide technical support and training to customers and internal teams
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of industrial automation, control systems, and electrical schematics
- Experience working with low-volume or custom-built machinery preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with fieldbus networks (e.g., Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally
Desirable Skills
- Experience with motion control, robotics, or vision systems
- Knowledge of safety PLCs and functional safety standards
- HMI/SCADA development experience
- Experience with commissioning complex capital equipment
