TPA Recruit is supporting an established aerospace manufacturing business in the recruitment of a Material Controller - Stores to join its Operations team in Sunbury-on-Thames. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Material Controller - Stores will support the accurate receipt, storage, control, kitting and dispatch of components and materials. The role requires a practical, hands-on approach and a strong focus on material traceability, documentation accuracy and meeting production and repair schedules. This position is suited to someone with experience across Stores, Goods-In and Dispatch who can prioritise a varied workload and work confidently within a quality-controlled engineering or aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive components and materials from customers and suppliers.
- Check goods-in documentation, inspect deliveries and complete stock acceptance processes.
- Pick, kit and issue components against Works Orders to support production and repair turnaround schedules.
- Maintain full traceability of materials throughout Operations.
- Complete material receipts, put-aways, booking-in and dispatch transactions accurately.
- Process daily picks, Works Orders and subcontract movements.
- Monitor shelf-life-controlled materials and take appropriate action before expiry.
- Identify kit shortages, stock discrepancies and opportunities to reduce excess inventory.
- Ensure internal and external paperwork complies with the Business Management System and applicable quality standards.
- Provide flexible support across Stores, Goods-In and Dispatch when operational priorities require it.
Experience and Skills Required
- Previous experience in Stores, Goods-In, Dispatch, warehouse operations or material control within manufacturing or engineering.
- Good understanding of stock movements, material handling and documentation control.
- Ability to maintain accurate traceability in a regulated or quality-controlled environment.
- Strong time management, organisation and workload-prioritisation skills.
- Careful attention to detail when checking deliveries, paperwork and stock records.
- Confident working hands-on and supporting different operational areas when required.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Production, Quality, Purchasing and Logistics colleagues.
- Experience using an MRP or ERP system is desirable.
- Experience within aerospace, aviation, defence or another regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
