A fantastic opportunity for a degree educated Mechanical Engineer is on offer in the East Sussex area for a talented Production Engineer. With at least five years' experience as a Product Engineer and an interest in science, this role offers career progression opportunities with our innovative company.

Primary Objectives

  • Assist in the NPI process and help oversee our manufacturing processes.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and maintain the 8D/RMA system.
  • Ensure best practice and health and safety codes are followed.
  • Identify problems in the production line, troubleshooting manufacturing issues and completing various administrative tasks.

Main Requirements

  • Leading and carrying out 8D/RMA activities while maintaining the 8D/RMA process within Engineering.
  • Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities.
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Monitor the manufacturing processes, ensuring quality work is done in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Diagnose problems in the production line, providing recommendations and training to eliminate any issues.
  • Liaise with other engineers to develop plans that improve production, costs, and labour content.
  • Establish safety procedures and protocols that take the workers' well-being into account and minimise the carbon footprint.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in engineering and production, then share knowledge with co-workers.
  • Identify, document, and report unsafe practices.
  • Check drawings, routes & new BOM items for completeness and production readiness.

  • Schedule meetings with relevant departments and stakeholders.
  • Analyse all facets of production and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify and obtain any materials and equipment required for the above.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Proven experience in the engineering field.

  • Able to work on your own and as part of a team.
  • Open-minded to new ideas with an enquiring mind.
  • A hands-on doer with the skills to assemble small and large complex assemblies. This can sometimes be a physically demanding role, so a reasonable level of fitness and dexterity is required.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HNC/D in Mechanical Engineering.
