Our company is driven by a passion for travel and tourism with a deep appreciation of its benefits to people and places. Nevertheless, the travel sector represents circa 10% of global GHG emissions and can also impact harmfully on communities and biodiversity. This is where TerraVerde comes in; we support clients across the sector on their journeys to a sustainable and low carbon future. Our team combines the know-how of professional advisory with unique insights into tourism’s value chain, derived from decades of leadership experience in this sector. We help our clients future-proof their businesses, with practical solutions, whilst minimising their impact on the natural world. The Role With demand for our services growing, the role will be key to the overall delivery / development of TerraVerde’s GHG measurement service. It will be well suited to a candidate committed to a career in the fast-growing space of carbon accounting & sustainability, with at least two-years relevant experience; an eye for detail and strong data analytical skills. This will be combined with a passionate interest in the travel sector and a drive to helping it reduce its impact via practical and commercially sound solutions. The successful candidate will be ambitious and interested in long-term professional growth within the business. Skills & Experience · Carbon management: carbon footprint measurement across all Scopes, preparing decarbonisation strategies, accurate calculations and reports to support clients with implementation · A rigorous foundation in carbon & sustainability reporting frameworks, notably the GHG protocol and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI). · Ability to articulate differences between Net Zero & Carbon Neutrality & other related terminology. · Ability for compelling interaction with customers at multiple levels, in delivering credible verbal & written advice. · Possess a commercial approach, both in dealings with client-advice and in demonstrating a drive to assist in TerraVerde’s own business growth. · Degree / Masters level qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent work experience in sustainability. Key Responsibilities Client facing: · Client carbon measurements to GHG protocol standards including: o Planning, delivery and analysis o Company, product & event measurements o User-expertise in the suite of measurement tools used by the business, both proprietary as well as 3 rd party calculators. o Analysis of results, preparing insights and recommendations o Strong collaboration with the management team, to ensure highest quality delivery. o Ongoing creative input to refine processes and products · Business development support: o Sales and follow-up in promoting TerraVerde’s carbon calculator for tourism products. o Supporting the Directors in the preparation & delivery of client proposals & tenders. o Generally promoting TerraVerde’s services to new and existing clients. o Actively contributing to the maintenance of the customer database. · Customer project management: o Ensuring regular communication, project planning & updates are shared with existing clients, meeting delivery deadlines. o Liaising with clients & building strong relationships based on reliability and the highest professional standards. Internal: · Project management and performance analysis: o Diligent approach to the company’s project management system ensuring it is kept, accurate and up to date o Contribute to regular reporting & analysis of business metrics / performance. o Maintain customer project management schedules. · Sustainability Research o Monitor news feeds, company disclosures & websites from key sources: GSTC, TUI results, Travalyst etc.), staying briefed with developments in tourism sustainability to provide material for content creation. o Work with all members of the TerraVerde team to ensure the free flow of communication, knowledge and excellence in customer delivery. · General o Participation in organisational development and marketing activities o Team collaboration in shaping optimal approaches suited to each client / project. o Our small team embraces a range of opportunities to improve our client offering, internal operations, or team wellbeing. Therefore, other activities & responsibilities may arise, based on agreement, experience & interest. Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience · Spoken and written fluency in English · A minimum of 2-years carbon accounting & sustainability experience in an organisational environment. · Degree / Masters level qualifications and/or equivalent work experience in sustainability. · A passionate interest in travel and tourism, with an understanding of the role of the B2B trade. · A proven commercial perspective, both in supporting the company and its clients. · Demonstrate a drive to grow with the company, potentially taking on future leadership roles. · A positive ‘can do’ attitude, with a deep sense of ownership over quality of work. · Strong communication skills – you can make sense of data, presenting it in a visual, but “human” manner & convey results to clients. · Ability to manage multiple ongoing assignments simultaneously, working to regular milestones. · “Self-starter” ability to deliver high quality output, in a remote environment with minimal oversight. · The ability to work effectively in cross-cultural environments and multi-cultural teams. · Excellent project management skills · Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and equivalents in Google Suite · Excellent computer literacy for remote work. · Strong organisational skills & attention to detail. KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and targets · These will be worked out together during the induction period. Also note: · The role is UK based (preferably close to London), and you must have a UK right to work. · UK business hours (Monday to Friday, 0900 – 1800 UK time), though flexible patterns can be considered based on discussion and agreement. Both full-time and part-time basis can be considered for the position. · Being comfortable working remotely is key, though regular in person meetings are held in Central London.
