We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Management Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in guiding the company's financial decisions by analysing financial data, preparing accurate management reports, and managing day-to-day financial operations. You will bridge the gap between finance and operations, providing actionable insights that drive profitability, efficiency, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end accounts receivable process, including accurately generating and issuing invoices to customers.
- Process incoming supplier invoices, ensuring proper coding, matching, and authorization.
- Prepare, review, and execute regular supplier payment runs.
- Perform regular and accurate bank reconciliations across all company accounts.
- Oversee basic credit control activities to ensure timely collection of outstanding customer payments.
- Ensure all daily financial transactions are accurately and promptly recorded in the accounting system.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts to senior leadership.
- Perform variance analysis to identify differences between actuals, budgets, and forecasts, providing commentary on key drivers.
- Develop and maintain financial models to analyse pricing, profit margins, and cost structures.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the preparation of annual business budgets and rolling financial forecasts.
- Partner with department heads to understand their financial needs and ensure departmental spending aligns with company goals.
- Monitor cash flow and predict future trends to support strategic planning.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and internal policies.
- Lead the external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Keen interest in, or currently working towards, completing ACCA and CIMA certifications.
- Ability to work fully on-site from our Grangemouth office 5 days a week.
- Strong analytical mindset with a solid foundation in financial reporting and compliance.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to analyse complex data sets, spot trends, and draw accurate conclusions.
- Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of how operational decisions impact the financial bottom line.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in all financial reporting.
