We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Management Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in guiding the company's financial decisions by analysing financial data, preparing accurate management reports, and managing day-to-day financial operations. You will bridge the gap between finance and operations, providing actionable insights that drive profitability, efficiency, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end accounts receivable process, including accurately generating and issuing invoices to customers.
  • Process incoming supplier invoices, ensuring proper coding, matching, and authorization.
  • Prepare, review, and execute regular supplier payment runs.
  • Perform regular and accurate bank reconciliations across all company accounts.
  • Oversee basic credit control activities to ensure timely collection of outstanding customer payments.
  • Ensure all daily financial transactions are accurately and promptly recorded in the accounting system.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts to senior leadership.
  • Perform variance analysis to identify differences between actuals, budgets, and forecasts, providing commentary on key drivers.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to analyse pricing, profit margins, and cost structures.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the preparation of annual business budgets and rolling financial forecasts.
  • Partner with department heads to understand their financial needs and ensure departmental spending aligns with company goals.
  • Monitor cash flow and predict future trends to support strategic planning.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure all financial practices are in line with statutory regulations and internal policies.
  • Lead the external audits by preparing necessary documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Keen interest in, or currently working towards, completing ACCA and CIMA certifications.
  • Ability to work fully on-site from our Grangemouth office 5 days a week.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a solid foundation in financial reporting and compliance.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to analyse complex data sets, spot trends, and draw accurate conclusions.
  • Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of how operational decisions impact the financial bottom line.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in all financial reporting.
