Responsibilities
- Diagnose diseases and physiological disorders
- May conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, preventive or curative methods
- Prescribe medication and treatment
- Refer patients for surgery
- Treat diseases and physiological disorders
- Study the nature, cause and development of diseases and the structural and functional changes caused by diseases
- Supervise laboratory activities
- Act as consultant to other physicians
- Order laboratory tests, X‑rays and other diagnostic procedures
- Provide alternative forms of health care to patients
- Maintain accurate records
- Identify children’s individual learning needs
- Help clients manage physical illness and disorders
- Treat diseases, injuries and deformities
