The Job Role

We are recruiting a Senior Geo-technical / Contaminated Land Engineering Geologist to join our teams in Exeter or Portsmouth. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and interpreting ground investigations.

The role involves:

  1. Preparing scoping proposals and tenders considering resource needs.
  2. Managing, designing, and implementing ground investigations from desk study to reporting.
  3. Completing health and safety documentation such as RAMS, CPP, and Permit to Dig.
  4. Preparing and reviewing reports, calculations, drawings, logs, and lab data.
  5. Providing expert advice on geotechnical and geo-environmental issues to clients and authorities.
  6. Acting as Line Manager to junior staff, mentoring, monitoring performance, and managing recruitment and HR processes.
  7. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  8. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and equality policies.

Other duties may be assigned as the company’s needs evolve.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • BSc/BEng in Geology, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or related; a Master’s or PhD is advantageous.
  • Experience managing ground investigations and writing technical reports.
  • Management experience of engineering staff.
  • Desire to pursue professional chartership (CGeol, CEng, CSci) or QP status.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment to high standards of customer service.
  • Effective communication skills to build strong working relationships.

Additional Details

Position: Senior Engineering Geologist (Managerial Level)

Location: Exeter or Portsmouth

Hours: 37 hours/week, 08:30-17:00 (16:30 Fridays)

Package includes: Competitive salary, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, performance bonus, pension, flexible working, life cover, training opportunities.
