Support Worker – Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Location: Seaford
Salary: £90 – £100 per day
Contract Type: Temporary (opportunity to become permanent)
Start date: Flexible
At term time teachers, we are looking for a compassionate and patient Support Worker to work with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will play a vital role in supporting children\’s development, promoting their independence, and ensuring they are safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to children with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments.
- Support children with personal care, mobility, feeding, and other daily tasks where necessary.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and self-confidence.
- Use communication tools to support children with speech and language difficulties.
- Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all children.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom environments.
Essential Criteria
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational, care, or support setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of individual children.
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Health and Social Care, or Teaching Assistant).
- Knowledge of specific SEN conditions such as autism, global developmental delay, sensory processing disorders, etc.
- Experience using visual timetables, sensory strategies, or assistive technologies.
