A specialist provision in Tunbridge Wells is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team supporting children and young people with complex physical disabilities, profound learning difficulties, and associated medical needs.

Role Overview

  • Provide personalised support with daily living activities including personal care, feeding, mobility, and medical routines
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum through tailored, therapeutic approaches
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care and education
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive
  • Support communication using a variety of methods including Makaton, PECS, or other augmentative systems (training provided)

Ideal Learning Support Assistant

  • Experience working in a care role, supporting individuals with complex needs, is highly desirable
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with profound disabilities
  • Willingness to learn educational strategies and therapeutic approaches
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care and support
  • Relevant training or qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Health & Social Care) are advantageous but not essential
